Mons Pubis Cosmetic Surgery

Having a fat pumpum , camel toes or fat mons pubis isn’t really harmful to your health. In fact, some men find it attractive. However, because of the size, you may find it awkward and uncomfortable. It may even make you feel embarrassed.

This is where undergoing mons pubis cosmetic surgeries can help you feel better about yourself.

Two of the most common surgeries are monsplasty and mons pubis liposuction. Before discussing them, however, it’s best to get to know the targeted area more.

The Mons Pubis

The mons pubis is the area of fatty tissue that goes over your pubic bone. It’s supposed to protect the pubic joint and bone from any injury.

Looking like an upside-down triangle, it extends from the top part of the pubic hairline and all the way to the clitoris. While it exists in both men and women, it’s more prominent in females.

There are a number of things that can enlarge your mons pubis. The list includes pregnancy, weight gain, and childbirth.

While such changes are perfectly normal, some women find it uncomfortable and even embarrassing. In some cases, when the mons pubis increases in size, it causes problems in urinating, having sex, and fitting clothes.

What Is Monsplasty?

Monsplasty is a procedure that aims to reduce the size of a bulging mons pubis. It’s also called as a pubic lift.

The procedure can be done either under local or general anesthesia depending on the extent of the surgery. If there’s not a lot of tissue to remove, your doctor may only use local sedation.

However, if the procedure involves taking a big amount of fatty tissue or monsplasty will be done with other invasive surgery, like a liposuction, a general anesthetic is needed.

For the procedure, your doctor will create a horizontal incision at the top part of the pubic area, just below the navel. The muscles under will be tightened and raised so that your pubic skin will be firmer.

Your doctor will take out the excess skin and use a skin adhesive or suture to close the incision.

Preparation and What to Expect After

Before the actual procedure, you will need to stop taking blood thinners for about two weeks. You will also be asked to stop smoking a month before and after it.

Two days before the treatment, you won’t be allowed to take any asthma medications and ephedrines. If you are taking thyroid medications, you can’t take them on the actual day of surgery.

Recovery from monsplasty doesn’t take a long time. In fact, most women recover in just a week. There are, however, some physical activity restrictions which may last from 4 to 6 weeks depending on the extensiveness of the surgery.

Immediately after the treatment, you can expect a bit of discomfort and swelling which should go away on their own after a few days. There are cases where swelling last for 3 weeks.

Some patients may require to have drains placed in the area. These devices help collect postoperative fluids. They are usually removed after a few days.

In the first three weeks after the procedure, it’s a good idea to take daily, light walking. This will help promote better circulation and faster healing in the area.

As for results, you should be able to see a noticeable difference in the way your mons pubis look immediately. Take note, however, that you won’t be able to see the final results until 6 weeks after.

Who Qualifies?

Most women qualify for monsplasty. The idea is that anyone can undergo it as long as they are unhappy with the shape and size of their mons pubis.

Women who don’t have a stable weight are not ideal candidates.

The Side Effects of The Procedure

Monsplasty is generally a safe procedure and the side effects associated with it are minimal. The most common negative effects of the procedure include:

  • Pain
  • Dizziness
  • Abnormal bleeding
  • Abnormal discharge
  • Infection
  • Inflammation

There are also women who undergo secondary surgery because of unsatisfactory results. Scarring may also happen.

What Is Mons Pubis Liposuction?

Mons pubis liposuction is a procedure that removes the excess fat from the mons pubis. In this procedure, your doctor will create several little incisions in hidden areas, such as the crease of the groin. This way, the incisions won’t be that visible.

After the incisions are made, the doctor will insert a metal tube which he will use to suck the fatty tissues out. After getting the target amount of fats, another tube may be inserted to facilitate drainage.

Mons pubis liposuction is generally performed under local anesthesia. It usually takes about an hour to complete. Because it’s not that complicated or extensive, you may go home on the same day of the procedure. When it comes to returning to work, you may need to wait for a full week.

Take note that swelling and mild discomfort are normal. These effects should last for a couple of days.

Before and After the Procedure

As part of preparing for the procedure, you’ll need to quit smoking two weeks before your treatment date. You should also refrain from taking any blood-thinning agent, like aspirin, a week before. The area will be completely shaven right before the procedure.

After, you’ll be required to use a compression underwear. You’ll need to wear it for 4 to 6 weeks to make sure that there’s even shrinkage of the skin.
